Zuatara Week 2015: Voyage

The early morning of Aang and Katara's wedding, Zuko knocked on the door of her changing chambers.

"How you doing in there, Katara?" he asked with a knot in his stomach. Today was also a life altering day for him. Not only was he the best man of the Avatar, but he also had to watch the love of his life marry him. Without ever telling her how he truly felt.

"Ah, hold on a second!" A little bit of hustle and bustle were heard behind the door. With a "that's so like her" chuckle, Zuko waited patiently until the door began to creak open. And there she unfolded before his eyes, like a blooming water lily. Dressed from head to toe in the finest formal wear Aang could find. The only thing missing was her betrothal necklace, which would be placed after the ceremony.

"So... what do you think?" Katara hummed to Zuko, breaking their eye contact and biting her lip.

"Katara..."

His years of unrequited love bubbled up inside. Like lava it soared through his veins. He could no longer take it, he had to say it.

"Run away with me."
